Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of sophieandteam.com (the "Site"), operated by Reid & Wise LLC ("the firm", "we"). By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Acceptance of these terms

Your use of the Site constitutes acceptance of these Terms of Use and of the Privacy Policy linked in the footer. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use of the Site after we post a revised version constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Use of this website

The Site is provided for general information about the firm's U.S. immigration practice. We make no warranty about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the content, and your use of the Site is at your own discretion and risk. You agree not to use the Site in any manner that violates applicable law or that interferes with other visitors' access.

Not legal advice

The content on the Site is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Reading the Site does not create an attorney–client relationship. Every immigration matter turns on its specific facts; do not act on anything you read here without first consulting a qualified attorney about your situation.

No attorney–client relationship via the website

Submitting an evaluation or consultation form, sending email, subscribing to the newsletter, or otherwise contacting the firm through the Site does not by itself create an attorney–client relationship. That relationship is formed only by a written engagement agreement signed by both you and the firm after we complete a conflict-of-interest check.

Attorney advertising

This website may be considered attorney advertising under the rules of certain jurisdictions, including New York. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome in your matter. Case studies published on the Site are anonymized and presented for educational illustration; they are not promises of any particular result.

Submissions and confidentiality

Information you submit through any intake form is governed by our Privacy Policy. Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information through the Site until an attorney–client relationship has been formed. Information sent before a written engagement is in place may not be protected by attorney–client privilege.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the firm's newsletter, you authorize us to send you periodic email updates about U.S. immigration developments and the firm's practice. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email; we honor every unsubscribe request promptly.

Intellectual property

All content on the Site — text, photographs, logos, graphics, and the firm's identifying marks — is the property of the firm or its licensors and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from the Site's content without our prior written permission, except that you may save or print a reasonable number of copies for personal, non-commercial reference.

Third-party content and links

The Site may link to external websites for the visitor's convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. Linking to a third party does not imply endorsement.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the firm and its attorneys, employees, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the firm and its attorneys, employees, and agents harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your violation of these terms or your misuse of the Site.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms and any dispute arising out of or related to them or the Site are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The state and federal courts located in New York County, New York have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted with a notice on this page for a reasonable period.
