Privacy Policy
Reid & Wise LLC ("the firm", "we") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through sophieandteam.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
Information we collect
When you contact us through the website — evaluation form, consultation request, newsletter signup, or direct email — we collect what you choose to provide: typically your name, email, phone number, preferred language, and case-related details. When you browse the site, your browser sends standard technical information with each request (IP address, user-agent string). If you opt in to analytics cookies (see "Cookies and tracking" below), we also receive session-replay data showing how you navigate the site.
How we use your information
We use the information you submit only to evaluate your inquiry, respond to you, and — if you become a client — administer the engagement. We do not sell your information, rent it, or use it for advertising. Submissions from the evaluation and consultation forms are routed to a shared mailbox at the firm and reviewed by attorneys.
Legal basis (EEA / UK visitors)
For visitors in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process personal data on the following legal bases under the GDPR: (a) consent — you opt in to analytics cookies through the banner; (b) performance of a contract or pre-contract steps — when you ask us to evaluate or take on a matter; (c) compliance with legal and professional obligations — attorney conduct rules, conflict checks, tax records; and (d) our legitimate interests in operating and securing the website (e.g. anti-spam measures on intake forms).
Confidentiality
Information you submit through intake forms is treated as confidential within the firm. Submitting a form does not by itself create an attorney–client relationship; that relationship is formed only by a signed written engagement agreement.
Cookies and tracking
We use three distinct tools. (1) Cloudflare Web Analytics — pageview counts only, fully cookieless. Loaded for every visitor. (2) Microsoft Clarity — session replay and heatmaps, used to understand how visitors navigate the site. Clarity sets several cookies and records your interactions; sensitive fields are masked at the source. This tool is disabled by default and only loads after you click "Accept" on the consent banner shown on your first visit. You can change your decision anytime by clicking "Cookie preferences" in the site footer. (3) Cloudflare Turnstile — anti-spam protection for the intake forms. Turnstile sets a strictly necessary cookie when you submit a form; this is exempt from consent because the form cannot function without it.
Third parties
The site runs on infrastructure provided by Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and file storage in the United States), Microsoft 365 (intake email via the Graph API), Resend (newsletter and confirmation email), Cloudflare (analytics, Turnstile, content delivery), and Microsoft Clarity (analytics, when you opt in). Each of these vendors processes information on our behalf under their own privacy commitments. We do not share intake submissions with any third party for marketing or analytics.
International data transfers
Our infrastructure vendors are based in the United States. If you are located in the EEA, UK, or other jurisdictions outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. We rely on the standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards each vendor maintains for international transfers.
Retention
Intake submissions are retained for as long as we need them to evaluate or service your matter, plus any additional period required by attorney professional-conduct rules and US tax-record-retention requirements. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data (Clarity, Cloudflare) is retained for as long as the vendor stores it under their own policies — typically thirty days for Clarity session replays.
Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information you have shared with us. EEA/UK visitors additionally have the right to object to or restrict our processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents have the rights described under the CCPA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising). To exercise any of these rights, contact the firm using the email or phone on our Contact page; we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Children
The website is not directed to children under sixteen, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes that affect how we use your information will be highlighted with a notice on this page for a reasonable period.
